TOP 10 LAWYERS IN NEW JERSEY
In a selection process based on ballots sent to over 35,000 attorneys covering all areas of practice, John P. Paone, Jr. was voted among the top 10 attorneys in New Jersey. The research was conducted by Law & Politics, which serves as a consumer's guide to the best attorneys in the state. The results of this research were published in the April 2006 edition of New Jersey Super Lawyers Magazine.
John P. Paone, Jr., is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and serves on that organization's Board of Managers for the New Jersey Chapter. He was in the first class of attorneys to be certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a "Matrimonial Law Attorney." He was the 1995-96 Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Family Law Section. Mr. Paone is a senior editor of the New Jersey Family Lawyer, and is an emeritus member of the Family Law Section Executive Committee. He has been appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve on several committees governing the practice of family law and currently sits on the Matrimonial Committee of the Board on Attorney Certification.
During his 25 years of practice, Mr. Paone has been involved in several high profile matrimonial matters. He recently concluded an international child custody trial in which he represented the daughter of the President of Uzbekistan. He was the attorney for the husband in the first "cybersex" divorce case which received worldwide attention. He has represented government officials, sports stars and celebrities in a variety of family law matters.
Mr. Paone is the 2002 recipient of the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Section's Saul Tischler Award for the substantial impact he has made on the development of family law and the legal profession. Mr. Paone is one of only 28 New Jersey family law attorneys listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Paone is a frequent lecturer and has published many articles concerning family law issues. He has been quoted in the New York Times and other major publications and has made television appearances on Court TV and other programs. He was featured in the December 1996 issue of New Jersey Monthly as one of "The 50 Most Interesting People in New Jersey." Mr. Paone has been rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell representing the highest standards for legal ability and ethical conduct.
Mr. Paone was admitted to the bar in 1982. He earned a B.A. degree with honors from Rutgers University and a J.D. degree conferred magna cum laude from the American University, Washington College of Law where he also was articles editor of the Law Review. In 1986, he established the Woodbridge law firm, now known as Paone & Zaleski, which limits its practice to divorce and family law matters.
